All about the Esports Team: Navi

Team NAVI – also known by its full name, Natus Vicere (born to win in Latin) is a Ukrainian esports outfit, based in Kyiv, The team was setup in 2009, and competes across titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, FIFA, Brawl Stars, World of Tanks, Paladins, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Clash of Clans, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Fortnite, and Valorant. NAVI is perhaps best known as the first team in history to win three premier tournaments (World Cup Cyber Games 2010, Electronic Sports World Cup, Intel Extreme Masters) in a single calendar year. 

Team Navi: History and Background :

The team was established in October 2009 by Murat ‘Arbalet’ Zhumashevich, during the Intel Extreme Masters held in Dubai. The plan was to start a Counter-Strike team, with the team decided in 2009. Initially known as Arbelet UA, the team was Ivan “Edward” Sukharev, Yegor “markeloff” Markelov, Sergey “starix” Ischuk, Arsenij “ceh9” Trunozhenko and Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko, with ZeroGravity the team manager.

As well as its unprecedented hat-trick, it has also won The International 2011 with their Dota 2 squad.

Esports Titles and Achievements :

In Counter-Strike 2,  as well as the World Cup Cyber Games 2010, Electronic Sports World Cup, and Intel Extreme Masters success in 2010, and The International win in 2011 with their Dota 2 line-up, they retained the Intel Extreme Masters title the following year. In 2015, they lost in the final of the DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca, but won the Intel Extreme Masters Season X – San Jose. 

In 2016, they landed the Intel Extreme Masters Season X – World Championship, and became champions of ESL One: New York 2016. 

Two years later, teh team won the ESL One Cologne in 2018. In 2020/21, they claimed all of the IEM Katowice 2020, IEM 2021, DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 and ESL Pro League Season 14. They followed that up with victory at CS:GO Major PGL Stockholm 2021, and placed 1st in the BLAST Premier Fall Final and BLAST Premier World Final in that year.

In 2022, they won the Blast Premier Spring Final in Lisbon.

In DOTA, they team won The International in 2011, and consecutive seasons of Star Ladder’s Star Series in 2012. In 2013 they won the Alienware Cup in China. Their most recent success was at the  SL iLeague StarSeries Season 2 win In Los Angeles, in 2016.

Their PUBG roster claimed success at the PUBG Mobile EMEA League, and in the 2022 PUBG Global Championship they won the tournament. Their World of Tanks team won the Wargaming.net League of World of Tanks in April 2014, and then again in April 2016. NAVI won the Pro League Season 11 finals in Rainbow Siege 6, with their most recent win being the ESL Premiership Winter 2019 finals in Manchester, England.
